Ayersville Claws Back, But Falls Just Short Against Liberty Center
Ayersville fought back after falling down by seven runs in the sixth inning. The comeback fell just short though, in a 9-8 defeat to Liberty Center on Tuesday. Ayersville scored six runs in the failed comeback on a home run by Kourtney Lindeman, a single by Teryn Bour, a single by Isabella Joseph, and a triple by Kelly Limbaugh.
Ayersville collected 14 hits and Liberty Center had nine in the high-scoring affair.
Liberty Center got things started in the first inning. Liberty Center scored one run when R Miller singled.
Liberty Center pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning. In the third S Mcbride singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run and Miller singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Ayersville tallied six runs in the seventh inning. The offensive onslaught by Ayersville was led by Lindeman, Bour, Joseph, and Limbaugh, all driving in runs in the frame.
Liberty Center scored four runs in the fifth inning. Mcbride, Miller, M Jeffers, and #12 each had RBIs in the big inning.
M Garber got the start for Liberty Center. She went three innings, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out one.
Hailey Johnson was in the pitcher’s circle for Ayersville . She lasted four innings, allowing six hits and six runs while striking out six. Taylor Addington threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Ayersville hit one home run on the day. Lindeman went yard in the seventh inning.
Ayersville collected 14 hits. Aubrey Florence, Chloe Bowen, Limbaugh, and Lindeman all had multiple hits for Ayersville . Florence led Ayersville with three hits in five at bats.
Liberty Center collected nine hits on the day. Miller, C Chapa, and Mcbride each had multiple hits for Liberty Center. Miller went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Liberty Center in hits.
