Ayersville opened its league slate with a win over Hicksville 56-40. The Pilots started hot and recorded double figures in all four quarters. They also out rebounded the Aces 35-19 and had 18 assists on 20 made field goals on 46% shooting. A solid defensive effort held Hicksville to 27% shooting from the field. Jakob Trevino led the Pilots in scoring with 18 points. He also led the team with 8 rebounds and added 4 assists. Kallen Brown had 15 points and 5 rebounds, while Brayden Amoroso had another all-around night for Ayersville with 8 points, 6 rebounds, and tied for a team-high with 5 assists. Ike Eiden scored 5 points (all in a key spurt in the third quarter) and tied for the team lead in assists with 5. Tyson Schlachter had 4 points and 4 rebounds, Ryan Clark had 2 points and 5 boards, and Evan Clark had 2 points. Weston McGuire returned to action for the first time this season and scored 2 points off the bench for Ayersville. The Pilots play tomorrow night against Holgate, in a makeup game from earlier in the season.
