Ayersville scored a season-high 65 points, but they also gave up a season-high 80 points in a league loss to Wayne Trace. The Pilots and Raiders jumped out to fast starts, with the first quarter score being 23-17 in favor of Ayersville. A lot of good ball movement led to open looks for the Pilots. Wayne Trace outscored the boys 19-10 in the each of the second and third quarters. But it was a 19-3 run by the Raiders in the last three minutes of the third quarter and first three minutes of the fourth quarter that allowed the lead to reach 20 points. Ayersville would continue to fight and trim the lead to 11 with about two minutes to go in the game, but couldn’t get any closer. Jakob Trevino and Brayden Amoroso paced the Pilots with 17 points a piece, while Jakob also had 6 rebounds and 3 assists and Brayden had 3 assists and 3 steals. Ike Eiden scored in double figures with 10 points, leading Ayersville with 5 assists and grabbing 6 boards. The Clark brothers combined for 14 points and 11 rebounds, Ryan scoring 8 and hauling in 8 rebounds and Evan tallying 6 points and 3 rebounds. Blake Eiden scored 5 points and Weston McGuire rounded out the scoring for Ayersville with 2 points. The loss drops the Pilots to 11-8 overall and a 3-4 finish in the GMC.
The JV Pilots won their final league contest of the season. They edged out Wayne Trace in another tight game, 32-29.
