Holgate jumped out to a 10-2 lead early in the game Saturday night and never looked back, beating Ayersville, 60-48. Holgate outscored and out hustled the Pilots in every quarter but the third. The Tigers pushed the lead to 21 points early in the third quarter, but Ayersville finally broke through with a burst of energy and they were able to trim the lead to 10. However, that’s the closest Ayersville would get the rest of the game. Jakob Trevino led the Pilots with 11 points. Ike Eiden followed with 10 and Tyson Schlachter added 8. Ryan Clark had 6 points and 5 boards (which led the Pilots) and Blake Eiden added 4 points and a team-high 5 assists off the bench. Weston McGuire and Cam Cook each hit a three pointer to finish with 3 points a piece, while Rick Sherman had 2 points and Kallen Brown a single tally. Ayersville returns to action with another league game Friday night, heading to Tinora. The boys are now 5-4 on the season and 1-1 in GMC play.
