Ayersville wasn’t able to overcome a big third quarter by Fairview or a season high 18 turnovers, falling by seven points, 53-46. A two point game at the half turned into a ten point lead for the Apaches at the start of the fourth quarter. The Pilots were able to cut the lead down to five and six at different points in the final quarter, but were unable to capitalize on possessions at those times. Of those 18 turnovers, 16 came in the first and third quarters, both quarters in which the boys were outscored. Ike Eiden led the Pilots in scoring with 11 points, all coming during the fourth quarter. He also had 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Tyson Schlachter also scored in double figures for Ayersville with 10 points and led the Pilots with 10 rebounds. Kallen Brown had 8 points and Jakob Trevino turned out a 5 point, 5 rebound, and a team-high 5 assist night. Ryan Clark and Blake Eiden each scored 4 points, while Brayden Amoroso and Cam Cook had 2 points a piece. The Apaches, who shot 17-30 from the free throw line, were led by Caleb Frank’s 25 points. The loss drops the Pilots to 10-7 overall and 3-3 in GMC play. They play Saturday night against Emmanuel Christian at home.
